该 MFA 隶属 School of Communication 的 Radio, Television, and Film Department，面向希望以非虚构影像、混合形式和新兴媒介讲述现实题材的创作者。项目强调原创作品、艺术声音与技术执行并重，学生可以在纪录片、剧情与非虚构交叉、互动项目和多平台发行之间形成个人路径。 项目不是单纯的电影制作训练，而是把历史理论、制作技法、提案开发、声音影像语言、发行与展映意识纳入两年制创作体系。学生在第一年建立作品组合并启动 thesis，第二年完成 10 至 20 分钟的 thesis 项目或互动作品。

课程体系围绕十门核心课展开，覆盖 Art of the Real、Documentary Practices、Documentary Techniques、Narrative Techniques、Pre-Thesis 与 Thesis 系列。 第一年学生至少完成一部短片，并开展 thesis 项目前期；第二年聚焦 thesis 的开发、拍摄、后期、原型完成和公开放映或展览组织。 核心课之外，学生可修读动画、高级摄影、高级剪辑、互动媒体、后期声音、策展实践、纪录片写作等方向课程。 项目总学分为 18，另设可选 Internship 或 Professional Experience，包括 fellowship、apprenticeship、internship、consulting project 或与成熟创作者合作。
申请通过 TGS 申请系统提交，项目页面列明所有材料须在线上传，不接收邮寄或邮件提交的材料。 申请材料包括 Academic Statement、Personal Statement、成绩单、三封推荐信、简历或 CV、production sample 和 500 词以内 Program Statement。 production sample 可提交最多 10 分钟材料，类型不限于纪录片，但需说明申请者在作品中的角色。 项目页面注明 GRE 不要求；国际申请者需按页面说明提交或豁免英语能力材料。
毕业生可进入纪录片制作、独立影像、影视后期、互动媒体、艺术展映、教育与公益传播等领域。 课程中的发行、筹款、预算和展映训练帮助学生把创作计划转化为可执行的制作与传播方案。 thesis 与作品集是职业发展核心资产，可用于电影节、展览、制作公司、媒体机构或继续艺术创作路径。
